Marie Kondo once put it best: “The objective of cleaning is not just to clean, but to feel happiness living within that environment.” When cleaning commercial facilities, this is exactly what we do as cleaners for the residents of the very buildings we upkeep. And because the lives that are affected by what we do within these facilitites matter most, it’s beyond important to know how to clean…and clean brilliantly! (Get it?) So, below are a few basic tips on how to make sure you’re doing it right:
Tip #1: Safety First!
Always, always, always remember to place wet floor signs before mopping or whenever floors become slippery (e.g. mopping, spills, rain). They are there to help avoid slips and falls that may lead to serious injuries – not only for the residents and their guests but for you as well! When dealing with dangerous chemicals or machinery, remember to wear necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure you get the job done… in one piece, please! Residents will thank you.
Tip #2: Prepare Beforehand
No one likes to wait around (especially in an unclean area). Avoid unnecessary back-and-forth trips and disgruntled people by ensuring that you have all the needed chemicals and equipment with you before you start on the job. If you know you’re working on the 20th floor, take everything you need. You will thank you.
Tip #3: Use the Right Stuff for the Right Places
Simple. Using the appropriate chemicals and equipment for the job will lead to great results and happy customers. Not only will you have a spotless area, but you will also save tons in time and money – every mistake made means re-doing what you could’ve done right in the first place. So do it right, for you and everyone else. Read labels, follow instructions and ask questions whenever in doubt.
